Today I’m delighted to announce the release of my newest plugin – Revive to Sky!
It’s fair to say (and it’s something I’ve not really plugged here) I’ve pretty much abandoned Twitter, and moved over to Bluesky. One of the social networks cool features was that you can authorise yourself with the domain name: adding a TXT record to your domain registers you for a profile that is a domain. The view is that you have access to a domain and you are known by it. So nobody could be an imposter of Dwi’n Rhys, or my real life handle rhys.wales – as those are me.
This lead to problems as folks were snapping up handles and – err – not knowing what to do. People were claiming handles for all their businesses and side projects, but not knowing what to do with them. This leads to another positive to Bluesky – it’s API is well documented and easy to figure out. It’s also incredibly easy to set up an app on it.
There was a plugin I ran on my old site entitled “Tweet Old Post” – this would take a random blog post, and tweet it out on your timeline.
This plugin recreates it for Bluesky.
You can set a timeframe for when to push a post out, and you can include/exclude certain categories, but I’ve been running it on my relatively dormant Dwi’n Rhys Bluesky account and it’s meant that – already this year – it’s helped Bluesky become a top 10 traffic source for this site according to my logs:-
Obviously some of it could be from other people/accounts mentioning my site, but it is minimal effort promotion, and you could get some more links.
Anyway, the plugin is free, and you can choose the categories and tags to exclude and include, as well as customise both the message and the frequency that your posts go out. You can download it from the link below.

I’m doing something differently with this plugin and I’ve put a site on a subdomain, rather than a subfolder, for this plugin. The reason is that I’m planning a premium version to compliment the free version that would add some features I want to add to it. I’ll announce it to folks (with a bit of a discount!) first.
