Today I’m happy to announce that Preload LCP Image 1.5 has been released.
It was half a new feature release, half a maintenance release, so I’ve decided to announce it as a “new feature” release, although that new feature is only as a result of a bug fix. Make sense? No? Well hopefully it soon will.
New feature – AVIF image support
I’ve added support so AVIF images can be used. Although in reality we’ve already kind of had it.
AVIF images were able to be used previously, however using an image present within the media library caused errors. This was due to the plugin using image URLs rather than image paths to determine the mime type of the image. AVIF’s, for some reason, mime type is inaccessible if you reference it with a URL. This was very much a “I was doing it wrong”. Once I changed the reference from using image URLs to image paths, the mime type was able to be determined for AVIF images.
So now, AVIF’s can be preloaded! Hurrah!
Display bug fixes on the admin page
Minor bug fix, but Preload LCP Image’s admin page is now rendering correctly on mobile layouts. It’s not perfect, but it’s usable.
