Preload LCP Image 1.2 Launched

Today sees the release of version 1.1 of my “Preload LCP Image” WordPress Plugin!

This update introduces a feature to force any image to be preloaded as an image. It’s not needed in the majority of cases, but some images WordPress couldn’t determine the MIME type, and then it lead to console errors such as this.

This caused a few problems, as it meant that it wasn’t preloading the image, as browsers weren’t able to tell it was an image.

I’ve introduced a checkbox you can tick if you do get this error which will force the LCP element to be loaded as an image, no matter what.

It doesn’t quite list the type of image, so it’s not perfect, but it should still allow you to preload the largest contentful paint as an image, without any errors.

I’ve also improved the formatting of the box, as well.
